History

Heartbeat - an exciting and different close harmony chorus of around 45 extremely talented ladies based in Marple, Cheshire, United Kingdom.

Heartbeat stand out in the crowd because of their wide and diverse repertoire, covering 4 part A capella Harmony, Contemporary sounds, Gospel soul numbers and Traditional 16th Century and modern Choral pieces.

Heartbeat‘s exciting depth of sound is teamed with slick choreography to present an outstanding entertainment experience. Always keen to raise their standard of excellence, Heartbeat are a competitive chorus and in July last year wowed the judges and took third place at the world renowned International Musical Eisteddfod, Llangollen, Wales. Add to this, their success since 2005 as section winners of the Bangor International Musical Festival, Sligo International Musical Festival and regional Hazel Grove, Fleetwood and Biddulph Festivals.

2007 saw the celebration of their 10th anniversary which Heartbeat celebrated in style in April at the Plaza Theatre Stockport with their show time production "Heartbeat: Fully Loaded".

The driving force behind Heartbeat is the creative inspiration and talent of their charismatic Musical Director Lesley Carson, herself an A Capella quartet Gold medallist. Lesley believes that in addition to performance; musical education and self-development must be an important part of her chorus ethos. This is achieved by engaging regular guest educators and both presenting and attending singing workshops covering a variety of musical skills.

The last year has seen a 30% growth in membership further advancing the profile of the chorus and its diverse styles. Heartbeat is also proud to present Tone-Acity, their superb, competitive, medal winning Quartet
